This week we will continue learning about digraphs. We will learn about the Ch sound, the sight words down and on, the word family -on. We will celebrate Dr Seuss this week by wearing crazy socks on Tuesday, wearing red, white and blue on Wednesday, wearing a vacation shirt on Thursday and wearing a number on Friday. In Math, we start learning about ordinal numbers. For the next two weeks in Unit, we will study about Community Helpers.
Please continue to read every night at home and practice these new skills.
This week, we will go to the Book Fair on Friday.
I cannot believe we are almost at the 100th day of school! This week in language arts, we will learn about the digraph th, the word families -ock and -op, and the sight words come and with. In math we will continue telling time to the hour and celebrate the 100th day (don’t forget to send in 100 small pieces of snack). In Unit we will finish studying our National Symbols (The Statue of Liberty) and our Famous Americans (George Washington and Rosa Parks).
Continue reading and practicing sight words. Please help your children learn to tie their shoes. Don’t forget, we have snack everyday so send something with your child.
Spring picture day is Tuesday. Conferences are Tuesday and Thursday.

This week we will start learning about the sh digraph, the word family -og, and the sight words up and away. In math we will finish graphing and begin telling time on a digital clock and on an analog clock. In Unit we will continue learning about the famous Americans Abraham Lincoln and George Washington Carver.
If all goes well, we will have Hibernation Day on Friday, Feb 21. Please bring slippers, books, a snack and a towel. Don’t forget to wear PJs!

What an exciting week we have …. In language arts we will learn about the letter U, the sight words where and not and the -ot family. In math we will continue with tally marks and learn more about graphing. Our Unit will focus on Betsy Ross and our National Symbols. We will also start our Famous Americans and National Symbols book.
Hibernation Day is Thursday. Your child may bring a towel, books and a special snack.
Thursday is also Early Dismissal. Looking forward to seeing families on Conference night.
For homework, your child should be reading every night from their “book bag” and practicing their sight words. If you have not returned your “bag”, please do so as soon as possible so your child will have new books to read.

This week we will continue our alphabet study with the letters J and Y, the sight words said, you and do and the –ox word family. In math, we will learn about tally marks. Our Science Unit this week is all about shadows.
On Wednesday, we will take our class picture. Don’t forget to send in the picture envelope.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be on Tuesday, February 11th.
Our Hibernation Day will happen this Friday, February 7th. Snack money from last week will be used this Friday.
Starting this week, your child will bring home a “book bag”. The “book bag” will contain 2 -3 books your child can practice reading. Please do NOT mark on these books because they will be used year after year. Please return the bag on Thursdays so books can be replaced with new ones and come home with your child on Mondays.
